What people ask before they update an old photo

Will it make me look younger?
No. The reference lines stay — what changes is the lighting and the backdrop, the same way a studio update always has. Compare the two photographs above: same face, current light.
Will it look fake?
What reads as fake is skin smoothed flat and a smile that's been directed. We keep the texture a real photograph has and don't touch the expression, which is also why we show you the 2014 photo instead of hiding it.
Why does the before photo look so dated?
Hard flash and a blue gradient backdrop were standard studio lighting in 2014. The lighting aged faster than you did — this replaces the setup, not the face in front of it.
What happens to my photos?
They go to the model that makes the portraits and nowhere else. Nothing is trained on them, by us or by the provider.
